| Description | Hailing from Chicago, Forty Piece Choir began playing together in early 1999. Those formative months saw the creation of many ideas and songs that quickly formed "Salud," Forty Piece Choir's debut full length album. Jim DeRogatis of the Chicago Sun-Times wrote, "This home recorded debut is a smart and sophisticated effort with 10 lilting, atmospheric songs full of sly melodies and enigmatic imagery." Forty Piece Choir has been enjoying success on the local level in Chicago with strong radio support from 93XRT and Q101, as well as college radio. In addition the song, "Snail On A Star" is featured on Q101's Local 101 - Volume 2, released in February of 2000. The music itself is dynamic, yet humble, stemming from the collaboration of seven artists experiencing life together. The diversity of character within the band is the driving force behind Forty Piece Choir's eclectic sound. Combining traditional rock elements (guitar, bass, and drums) with the more unique sounds of moog, farfisa, bells, and banjo, Forty Piece Choir unifies a broad spectrum of influences into their original brand of psychedelic post-pop. Forty Piece Choir's four vocalists complete the mix, popping in and out of songs with their choir-esque harmonies and melodies. Forty Piece Choir has started preproduction on their next full length album. Forty Piece Choir is continuing to play top Chicago venues, while supporting their music with mini-tours around the Midwest. As Forty Piece Choir continues to evolve musically and spiritually, one thing remains, Kelly Kruse: "We will continue to write music that is effective in a positive way as a little reminder that life can be very sweet." |
