Description	The Chicago-based Gertrude purvey their hook-laden brand of pop/rock with an animated passion unmistakably derived from a sheer love of what they do From its infancy, Gertrude was met with immediate audience approval and began packing venues - taking even the band members themselves by surprise. Within months of the bands inception, Gertrude (known then as Soul Intention) was voted Chicago's favorite female fronted band - taking home $5,000 and helping raise $10,000 for the AIDS charity, Open Hand Chicago. The uniqueness of Gertrude is that they possess a rare union of artistic integrity and marketability. A desire to write and play for "the song" (instead of their own egos), enables them to work as one organism moving towards a common goal of delivering memorable music to their audience.
