The Opinion

It's not very often that a band releases an album where every single song demands to be listened to. But that's exactly what Gertrude has done with their self-titled debut release. Putting on this album, the listener is subjected to extreme ups and downs. Not because any of the songs are less than stellar. It's because every song is so much fun to listen to that the listener hates to hear the song end. But then the next song starts and the listener is elated once again.

Masterpiece is a strong word, yet it almost fails to adequately describe Gertrude's album. Through the amazing songwriting, inspiring vocals, excellent playing, and perfect production, every track truly is pure pop-rock gold. Even after a single listen, these songs get stuck in the listeners head with their catchy hooks.

The sound that they get on the album couldn't be better. Gertrude's album is one of those extremely rare albums that would be virtually impossible to improve. And there's no doubt that this is an album that the listener will quickly become addicted to. The infectious songs just won't let the listener forget them. Even if you put the album away and don't listen to it for a while, the songs get deeply embedded in your mind and there's no escape. Not that you'd want one.

Nutshell Review

Gertrude is a debut album that's sure to make veteran bands jealous of the phenomenal songs and a bit scared of the overwhelming talent in this band.
