Left Undone at House Of Blues - 8/21/01

Reviewed By Eric J. Olsen

The Opinion

Smoke billowing from the stage foreshadowed the music that would soon wash over the audience when Left Undone played the House Of Blues. As they started playing the brand of funky soulful rock, the audience was immediately caught up in the experience. When Left Undone plays, it's impossible to remain still. Their music is refreshingly original, and impossible to classify. They combine just about every genre into their music and truly have a sound all their own.

Not only do they have some really great songs, but they also have the stage presence and energy to take their live show to that level that every band tries to reach. When these five guys play (Ben Glazer on vocals, Sean Stiller on bass, Chip Mauro on drums, Dan Fox on guitar and vocals, Danny Chaimson on keys and vocals), the audience can't help but be released from the everyday world and be pulled into a place where there's only that sound. That music that can only be described as smooth.

Their sound was phenomenal, their playing was impeccable, their energy was astonishing. After you see Left Undone live, it's abundantly clear that these guys have IT. They have a sound all to themselves and the ability to convey that sound to the audience. They've matured a lot since their Uptown Soultel album. Seeing their growth is almost scary; if they've come this far at this point, it's hard to imagine where they'll end up. But one thing is for sure, when they end up at a place near you, Left Undone is a band that you don't want to miss.

Nutshell Review

Left Undone wraps the audience in a smooth, funky blanket that warms the soul.
