The Opinion |
|
Everyone that becomes a reviewer longs to find that one unbelievable artist just before they break wide open so they can be the first to turn people on to them. That artist for me is Paul Mabin. His show was amazing (while playing under the name The Urban Rockstars) and now his demo cements his position. Every song has an understated power that commands the listener's attention. The music has a groove that traps the listener while the powerful vocals and harmonies make the listener feel exactly what he's singing about. Take the excellent musicianship and talented songwriting and the only end result is one of those rare artists that transcends genres and enters a zone all his own. The quality of the demo is extremely high. Any of the songs could be put on a major label release and nothing would have to be changed. The demo does a great job of capturing the essence of each of the songs. Paul is one of those songwriters that truly understands the craft. Every song is guaranteed to please virtually everyone that listens to it. The only problem with the demo is that it is only 3 songs. The listener becomes transfixed by the music and before you know it, the album is done playing. When you put this album on, be sure to hit repeat, it's well worth repeated listens. A talented musician (backed by talented musicians), remarkable songwriting, energy, and intensity, make Paul Mabin an artist destined to become a force in music. And not just in Chicago. |
