| Description | A wide variety of delicious dreamy sounds dunked into an electro afro-beat stew, brought to a boil and served with proportional helpings of chew stick soul. These fanatical flavors have been feeding the members of Chicago-based Shadow Tribe since their random inception in November of 2000. This particular project brings together these musicians and wordsmith's of diverse ethnic backgrounds, forming a close-knit concept of modern electronic music and organic instrumentation. As their name implies, Shadow Tribe is collaborating with a wide collective of Chicago area musicians and DJ's to form a dynamic and dark extended family. Peccavi injects tiny bits of spoken verb that invoke images of spiritual incarceration and urban folklore, giving certain songs a minimalist and cryptic feel. Guitarist Maxim Havlicek of Prague adds mellifluous guitar to produce an ethereal backdrop to the electronic beats of drummer/sequencer Stephen Dobkowski. Vocalist Chavez Ravine has brought her soul and jazz-based vocal approach to the solid beats and sample-laced tracks, all the while proving to be a standout, must-hear vocalist. Bassist Michael Dobkowski contributes beat heavy yet sparse bass loops to create a solid foundation from which the tribe can create and dine on. Hailing from the realm of poetry, surrounded by sinister soundscapes, Shadow Tribe tracks deliver the hidden meanings of daily living with uncommon luster. In addition to the release of the Shadow Tribe CD "... of flesh and shadows", a release of a 12 inch album is planned with remixes done by DJs from Chicago, New York City, Istanbul, San Francisco, Boston, Prague and Tokyo. |
