Solister

SOLISTER started during the summer of 2002, when Kari and Dave started jamming at her apartment in Dekalb,IL. It was at this time that they started writing some originals. Jav joined the band, originally as a temporary bassist in August. Due to his funk/improv roots, we didn't think it would be permanent, but the three of us clicked instantly. We recorded our 4 song demo in early winter 2002 with ARM-80 Studios. Since then SOLISTER has written many more original pieces and we hope to get a full album recorded sometime in the near future. While definitely a metal band, Solister is a very interesting hybrid of various musical styles and influences ranging from hardcore metal to funk. Some of the band's influences include Tool, Pantera, System of a Down, Mudvayne, Primus, and Medeski Martin and Wood. We have played shows around the Chicagoland area, including Rockhouse USA, and Ottos, as well as shows at Northern Illinois University where all three members attend school. All of us have been serious musicians for a significant portion of our lives and will continue to do so far into the future. But for now SOLISTER plans to be kicking ass for quite some time in the Chicagoland metal scene.
