The Opinion |
|
"Too Much Excitement" by Pistol Whipped definitely lives up to its name. There is a lot more excitement and energy on this album than should be possible to replicate without having the band actually play your living room. That's the first thing that strikes the listener. Then suddenly, you realize that not only does Pistol Whipped have an amazing amount of energy, they have the musical ability to focus that energy into some really great songs. Their quick, in and out, pop-style songs are laden with the excellent harmonies created between Laurie and John. Combining a slew of musical styles, Pistol Whipped creates a sonic treat that just can't be ignored. The only exception is the track, "Plains Of Nebraska," where the yodel type vocal delivery just doesn't fit with the rest of the tracks on the album. Although, the rest of the tracks more than make up for that slight falter. Recreating the energy of the live band is done flawlessly on the album. Every song is truly a snapshot of Pistol Whipped in action. Energetic and raucous. Due to the high production value of the album, the feel behind the songs is not sacrificed to capture the songs in static form. Both the quality of the songs and the energy behind them are retained in every track. Regardless of the listener's preferred musical tastes, Pistol Whipped is sure to provide something to enjoy. Without being schizophrenic, they've managed to throw a little bit of everything into a melting pot and created a sound that is sure to please almost any listener. |
