The Opinion

If you look up "smooth" in the dictionary, you'll find Left Undone's "The Uptown Soultel." With their funky, soulful rock, this album grooves from start to finish. On top of that they throw on some amazing vocal harmonies. The end result leaves the listener with no choice but to fight the urge to get up and start dancing along.

The songwriting definitely proves that these guys have been together for a long time and have mastered their sound. Left Undone has developed their own sound and it works. They've found that special place where their influences are evident without being copied. They meld them all together into a unique sound. Even the amazing cover of Sly's "Thank You" stays true to the original while at the same time becoming their own song.

They don't, however, break any new ground with their lyrics. But the emotion they put into the vocals more than makes up for it. These guys have soul. And the way their voices blend together, the harmonies are unbelievable.

"The Uptown Soultel" is one of those albums that capture the essence of a band. From the funky foundation to the rocking guitar and keyboards to the soulful vocal melodies, everything clicks. A distinctive sound and the talent to pull it off, that's the definition of Left Undone. Smooth.

Nutshell Review

A well-written, well-played, well-produced album that makes you want to listen to it over and over.
